The S-Works Tarmac SL8 LTD Forward 50 features Rapide CLX II Team wheels, an S-Works Power Mirror saddle, an S-Works Tarmac seatpost, and a custom paint job. A Rapide Cockpit, 12-speed Shimano Dura Ace groupset, CeramicSpeed bearings, and Turbo tires round out the package.

Aerodynamics or lightness alone don't win races: what matters is speed. To achieve that speed requires an uncompromising combination of aerodynamics, light weight, stiffness, and compliance. Using complex simulations using real-world data, Specialized's Ride Science Team has verified that the Tarmac SL8 is the fastest road bike on any course: - 16.6 seconds faster than the 40km flat course, 128 seconds faster than the Milan-San Remo course, 20 seconds faster than the Tourmalet climb.

AERODYNAMICS : Specialized has created its fastest road bike ever—yes, even more aerodynamic than the Venge. The front end has been optimized to maximize its advantage. The fork steerer tube is positioned behind the front of the frame’s head tube to provide significantly less aerodynamic drag. Thanks to new UCI rules, the SL8 has been given the narrowest, most aerodynamic seatpost they’ve ever made, ensuring that turbulent air in the lower leg area can flow more easily toward the rear of the bike.
LIGHTWEIGHT : To create the Tarmac SL8 and build the most aerodynamic bike while meeting UCI minimum weight requirements, the team built a 685-gram frame—15% lighter than the Tarmac SL7 and lighter than any other bike on the World Tour*. Learnings from the Aethos design were incorporated into the focus on keeping the downtube, seat tube and tailtube as light as possible. The frame’s shapes respond so efficiently that material thicknesses were reduced and unnecessary material was eliminated. *With the exception of one time when Kasper Asgreen rode the 585-gram Aethos during a Tour stage.
RIDE QUALITY : The Tarmac SL8 has a 33% better stiffness-to-weight ratio than the SL7. The Tarmac SL8 sets a new benchmark for handling, precise in the most demanding situations, and responsive and efficient in every pedal stroke. While the areas that support power transfer and precise steering are stiffer than ever, the Tarmac SL8 is more comfortable in the saddle, filtering out 6% more shocks from the ground, allowing you to attack corners with a more agile and balanced feel than any other road bike. The new Tarmac SL8 retains the proven geometry of the SL7, with the same generous 32mm tire clearance, so you can run larger volume tires when needed.
