THINK FASTER : The Epic World Cup is the fastest XC racing bike on smooth trails, thanks to an unrivaled combination of efficiency, control and lightness. Champion Christopher puts it this way: “This bike gives me everything I could want from a hardtail, with the added control and capabilities of a full.” To create this race machine, Specialized took a fully integrated development approach, inventing an entirely new shock, thanks in part to four decades of victories on the off-road racing stage.
BENCHMARK FRAME : To achieve maximum speed through perfect efficiency in power transfer, and ultra-precise steering, the Specialized engineering team has set the new standard in terms of torsional and bottom bracket stiffness. The double diamond layout is the most sophisticated in Specialized's history, and supports the stiffness goal by integrating the shock as a structural element.
FAST SUSPENSION : The Specialized Ride Dynamics Team developed revolutionary technology for the Epic World Cup to give it the efficiency and responsiveness of a hardtail, plus the control and capability of a full. The RockShox SID Deluxe WCID (World Cup Integrated Design) shock with independently adjustable positive and negative air springs gives the Epic WC the coveted "snap" of hardtails, combined with a lightness that devours the terrain and provides the possibility to adjust the set up based on a specific route or personal preferences.
BEYOND ITS CLASS : The Epic World Cup's 75mm of travel feels like it's so much more. When the bike is ridden in firm mode, it offers the same positive travel as a 100mm travel bike set at 25% sag. The optimization of air volumes and damping characteristics allows the Epic WC to handle impacts like a bike with more generous travel. The dedicated MegaJounce pad provides robust end-of-stroke support to handle the most violent impacts.
BRAIN : While the revolutionary SID Deluxe WCID shock provides the perfect mix of absorption and firmness at the rear, in the fork the BRAIN is alive and well, with Position-Sensitive technology and 15mm of sag, without the need for lock outs or levers operate.
LIGHTWEIGHT : With the frame weighing only 1765 grams (painted, with shock absorber and small parts), the Epic World Cup is the lightest on the market. This lightness translates into explosive acceleration, climbs with maximum efficiency, and surprising handling. The sum of these characteristics is speed. Specialized was able to design such a light and yet stiff frame thanks to what it learned in the design of the Aethos, in particular in reference to the carbon layup.
SEAT POST : The Epic World Cup comes with the new ultra-light and stiff Roval Control SL seat post.
- The new Epic World Cup with Ride Dynamics Developed Suspension Technology has 75mm of travel on the rear wheel. Thanks to the new technology, pedaling is very efficient and this Epic is ready for the most demanding descents.
- The new Roval Control SL is among the lightest seatposts on the off-road market.
- SID SL fork with Brain, 110mm travel.
