Specialized Diverge 3 Alloy Bicycle

The Specialized Diverge 3 Alloy is a gravel bike designed to offer maximum versatility, speed, and control on roads, gravel, and off-road trails. It's the ideal companion for those who want to ride away from traffic, tackle country paths and white roads, but also push hard during a gravel race.

The Diverge combines a responsive and agile ride on the road with great stability and security when the terrain becomes more technical and challenging. Its progressive gravel geometry, ample tire clearance, and the ability to mount numerous accessories make this bike suitable for both fast rides and long-distance gravel tours.

The frame is made of Specialized E5 Premium Aluminum, which is light, stiff, and robust, and is paired with a full FACT carbon fiber fork. The Shimano CUES 2x10 drivetrain offers a wide range of gears, while the AXIS Sport Disc wheels and Specialized Pathfinder Wirebead Fast Gravel 700x40C tires ensure an excellent balance of rolling efficiency, traction, and control.

Main features

  • Specialized Diverge E5 Premium Aluminum frame, lightweight, stiff, and durable.
  • Full FACT carbon fiber fork, with full carbon steerer.
  • Shimano CUES 2x10 drivetrain, with 46/32T chainring and 11-39T cassette.
  • Shimano CUES hydraulic disc brakes, for powerful and modulated braking.
  • AXIS Sport Disc wheels.
  • Specialized Pathfinder Wirebead Fast Gravel 700x40C tires.
  • Ample tire clearance up to 47 mm with 700c wheels.
  • Ability to use tires up to 2.1" with 650b wheels.
  • Rack mounts, with mounts also on the fork and top tube.
  • Progressive gravel geometry to combine stability, control, agility, and speed.
  • BSA threaded bottom bracket.
  • Internal cable routing.
  • 12x142 mm rear and 12x100 mm front thru-axles.
  • Flat-mount brake compatibility.

Geometry and ride performance

Specialized has developed a particularly progressive gravel geometry for the Diverge, designed to increase the bike's off-road capabilities without compromising its performance on asphalt.

The longer reach, more relaxed head tube, and fork with increased offset contribute to creating a stable and secure bike on uneven terrain. The use of a shorter stem, however, maintains a lively and reactive ride.

The low bottom bracket further improves stability, while still allowing the use of 650b wheels with larger section tires.

Wide tire compatibility

One of the strengths of the Specialized Diverge is its high capacity to accommodate wide section tires.

The frame offers enough space for tires up to:

  • 47 mm with 700c wheels
  • 2.1" with 650b wheels

To achieve this clearance without lengthening the chainstays or using solutions that could compromise robustness, Specialized has integrated a solid carbon insert behind the chainrings on the drive-side chainstay.

Ready for bikepacking and touring

The Diverge is not exclusively designed for gravel racing. The frame features numerous mounting points for racks, including mounts on the fork and top tube.

This feature further increases the bike's versatility and allows it to be used for gravel trips, bike touring, bikepacking, and long-range adventures.

Find the Size

A Complete Guide to Bike Sizes

Foreword: Not all bike sizes are the same

Each type of bike has a specific frame and often uses a different size scale. For example, a road bike with a 54cm frame might be considered a medium size by one brand, but a large by another.

Bicycle adjustment margins

Some types of bikes, like gravel bikes, offer a wide range of adjustments, adapting to different body types. Other models, however, have limitations in this regard. This is an important aspect to consider.

How to use size charts

We've created a simple guide to help you find the right bike size:

  1. Check out our size charts for each bike type.
  2. Learn more with specific tips to help you make the right choice.

Size Charts: Find Your Perfect Bike

Gravel and road bikes

Sizes are based on the length of the top tube (in cm), which determines the reach of the bike.

Cut Recommended height Horizontal tube length
XS Up to 157 cm 48-50 cm
S 157-167 cm 50-53 cm
M 168-178 cm 53-56 cm
THE 178-185 cm 56-58 cm
XL Over 185cm 58-62 cm

For gravel, measurements may vary slightly due to different geometries, but remain similar.

Mountain bike

MTBs are measured in inches, based on the seat tube.

Cut Recommended height Size (in inches)
XS Up to 157 cm 14"-16"
S 157-167 cm 15"-17"
M 168-178 cm 16"-19"
THE 178-185 cm 18"-20"
XL Over 185cm 20"-23"

Sizes also vary depending on the type of MTB: full-suspension , hardtail or fat bike .

Children's bikes

The size depends on the size of the wheels, often associated with age:

Age Wheel Size
1-3 years 12"
2-4 years 14"
4-6 years 16"
5-8 years 20"
8-10 years 24"
Over 10 years 26"/27.5"

What to do with half measures?

If you are between two sizes:

  • Comfort : Choose the larger size.
  • Performance : Go for the smaller size.

Final tips for choosing

  1. Consult the manufacturer's instructions : Always check the brand's guidelines.
  2. Ask an expert : a specialized workshop can help you choose based on your height, ideal reach and goals.
  3. Test the bike : If possible, test the model you intend to purchase.
