- The greater thickness of the braking surface (from 1.95 mm) improves heat dissipation and the machining and the material used for the braking surface improve friction and at the same time optimize the wear of the pad.
- BCA uses a steel (AISI 420) which is more valuable than the one used on average on discs and is capable of a construction precision rare to see in the bike sector.
- The "bibs" you see highlighted in the photo below are not there because of an oversight or a production error (and therefore should not be removed ...), but for a very specific function: renew the pad, removing the friction material that otherwise it would stay longer either on the disc or on the pad itself, reducing braking performance.
- The two-piece (non-floating) structure reduces weight and the amount of vibration transmitted from the disc to the frame.
- In terms of weight, a 160mm BCA Centerlock disc weighs 118g and is also available with a 6-hole attachment.
The compatibility of BCA brake discs? :
- Answer affirmative, provided, however, to adopt new (original) pads and to bleed the hydraulic system.
- The greater thickness of the disc requires a minimum of attention when resetting the caliper pistons, nothing that a good mechanic cannot do. They are made up of two non-floating pieces and therefore lighter than single blocks;
the ergal spider anchored to the track reduces the vibrations transmitted to the pads / pistons;
the grooves and fins on the braking track dissipate the heat facilitating the cooling of the disc.
