It is worn over a long-sleeve technical base layer and under your jacket, creating an additional layer of protection to keep your torso warm without compromising moisture management.

Weighing only 128 grams, it is recommended for temperatures between -4°C and 10°C (24°F - 50°F) and allows you to add up to 5°C of comfort.

Polartec® Alpha® 90 Insulation

The heart of the Castelli Cold Days Vest is the Polartec® Alpha® 90 high-loft active insulation fabric, made from recycled PET.

Polartec® Alpha® is a particularly soft, stretchy, and lightweight insulation capable of offering a high level of warmth without weighing the garment down. Castelli developed this second layer specifically from the search for increased insulation for the coldest rides, including sub-zero gravel cycling.

Experience has shown that using Polartec® Alpha® over a technical base layer represents a particularly effective combination for facing the cold. Worn as a second layer, the fabric allows you to take advantage of its insulating capabilities while avoiding the clammy feeling that can occur when used directly against the skin.

Designed to be worn as a second layer

The Castelli Cold Days is designed specifically to be worn between your technical base layer and jacket.

The construction has been studied in detail to offer maximum comfort while riding. The half-zip avoids creating bulk in the lower torso, while its slightly offset positioning reduces the bulk caused by having multiple zippers in the neck area.

The fit is close to the body, allowing you to choose whether to tuck the vest inside your bib tights or leave it outside, depending on your preference.

The second layer is also designed to work perfectly over various Castelli technical base layers, including Flanders, Bandito, Miracolo, and Seamless.
