DT Swiss recall for safety reasons - Bicycle wheels from the ARC, ERC, CRC, and HEC series

Product Safety Recall (July 29, 2025)

Dear DT Swiss customers and business partners,

Following the usage suspension notice issued on July 12, 2025, and after careful analysis and the definition of a structured resolution process, DT Swiss officially announces the product recall. We wish to inform you that DT Swiss is recalling certain wheel models from the ERC, CRC, and HEC series with rim profiles of 35 and 45 mm, as well as models from the ARC series with rim profiles of 50, 55, and 65 mm. Although the initial usage suspension notice concerned only some ERC, CRC, and HEC models, the recall now also includes ARC models produced in the same plant. Even though no defects have been reported for this model, thorough quality checks have detected production issues similar to those previously identified in the ERC/CRC/HEC models.

It should be noted that ARC wheel models with profiles of 38, 62, 80, and 85 mm are NOT included in the recall. Furthermore, all rims produced at the DT Swiss plant in Poland are NOT affected by the recall.

Please also inform family, friends, and acquaintances about the recall!

Affected products

The wheels of the following series, delivered from August 1, 2024, are affected:

  • ARC 1100, 1400, 1600 DICUT 50 / 55 / 65
  • ARC 1600 SPLINE 50 / 55 / 65
  • ERC 1100, 1400, 1600 DICUT 35 / 45
  • ERC 1600 SPLINE 35 / 45
  • ERC LOG CLASSIC 45
  • CRC 1100 DICUT 45
  • CRC 1400, 1600 SPLINE 35 / 45
  • HEC 1400 SPLINE 45

The listed models have been distributed both as components of complete bicycles and as individual wheels through online or specialized dealers. The product recall for safety reasons exclusively concerns bicycle wheels equipped with carbon fiber composite rims (commonly called carbon rims) produced in Vietnam. Only wheels with a DT Swiss ID number greater than 2740000 are affected by the recall! Attention: not all wheels with a DT Swiss ID greater than 2740000 are necessarily involved in the recall. For this reason, it is necessary to check the DT Swiss ID to determine if the product is actually involved in the safety recall.

WHY CAN THE PRODUCT BE DANGEROUS?

Analyses conducted on the limited sample of defective wheels available from the ERC series have shown that, in the indicated models, spontaneous delamination (i.e., the detachment of the outer carbon layers) can occur in the rim edge area. The rim bed is not directly affected by the delamination but still suffers damage due to the resulting structural weakening. This type of delamination causes significant structural weakening, which can lead to complete rim failure.

The rim defect described increases the risk of accidents, which can cause property damage, serious injury, or even death.

Check your product

  1. If you own one of the wheels belonging to the above-mentioned series, immediately stop using the product.

  2. If your product has a DT Swiss ID identification number higher than 2740000, check if it is involved using the «CHECK HERE» field available on the DT Swiss website.

  3. If you purchased a complete bicycle, both the front and rear wheels may be affected (wheelset).

  4. If your product is affected, a form will be shown directly on the page where you can enter your contact details and register your wheel involved in the recall.

Further information

WHERE IS THE DT SWISS ID ON MY PRODUCT?

The DT Swiss ID identification number is a unique alphanumeric code assigned by the manufacturer to each individual product. It is applied to the product with a tamper-evident sticker and appears as a 2D code and a 7-digit identification number.

1. Check between the spokes of the rim.

2. Check on the nipple tape.

3. Carefully check the entire surface of the rim.

If the stickers with the DT Swiss ID number are no longer visible in the points indicated above, or are unreadable due to wear, you can send the rim serial number (which is located on the rim, under the tubeless tape) to the e-mail address recall@dtswiss.com (see image below). Thanks to this number, the team can perform a manual check to determine whether your product is affected by the recall.

To check if your wheels are involved, go to the DT Swiss website at this link: https://www.dtswiss.com/it/recall and enter your ID DT Swiss in the appropriate field.
