When Specialized began developing the S-Works Turbo RapidAir tires together with the Deceuninck – Quick-Step they set themselves ambitious goals, to make an all-round tire that was the lightest, fastest and most puncture resistant. Of course, they had to have the ride quality of tubulars. It wasn't easy, but now if you try these tires you won't need tubulars anymore. The new design is the result of years of laboratory development and extensive testing. The construction includes a flexible central part to 'smooth out' the imperfections of the road and which has a low rolling resistance. The GRIPTON® compound is fast and provides cornering traction. The wide tread and stable sidewalls favor driving precision and allow you to attack curves at speed. Finally, the Blackbelt ™ puncture protection is cut resistant and, in the case of holes, the new sealant closes the puncture almost instantly. RapidAir tires mount on tubeless-ready rims and can typically be inflated with a simple column pump.
