FIRST is the new Braking braking system, unique and completely renewed in its main features, precisely the FIRST of a new era (hence the name FIRST). A completely new project, 100% Made in Italy and CNC machined, the result of our experience gained on the competition fields and the feedback collected from the 5 years of In.Ca.S. «FIRST» guarantees tailor-made braking thanks to the new design that will allow you to manage the ergonomics of the brake INDEPENDENTLY of the hydraulic adjustment. A dress that every rider can customize through the choice of various possible customizations. All this makes FIRST superior to IN.CA.S in terms of customization possibilities and performance, but above all it makes the system SIMPLE to assemble, purge and maintain.

Cartridge
FIRST (and IN.CA.S) are the only brakes on the market to have the possibility of replacing the cartridge,
changing the diameter of the pump piston to modify the braking action.

  • With the 9mm cartridge you have a more linear but more powerful braking action. The smaller area guarantees higher pressures in the pipes (more power), while the lower fluid flow means that a greater stroke of the lever is needed to transfer the same volume of fluid to the caliper (greater modulation)
  • With the 10mm cartridge you have a more immediate braking action at the beginning of the stroke but less powerful. The greater area develops lower pressures in the pipes (lower peak power), while the greater fluid flow rate means that the stroke of the lever to transfer the same volume of fluid is lower than the stroke with a 9mm cartridge (less modulable, more ON /OFF)

Link size
By replacing the link, the reaction arm of the pump is modified by acting on the
plant power. There are three sizes of Link available:

  • Short – More powerful braking action
  • Standard, supplied as standard – Moderately powerful braking action
  • Long – Less powerful but more modulable braking action

Discs and pads
FIRST is compatible with all our discs in all diameters, even 3mm without the need to mount the ventilated spacer as was the case with IN.CA.S. The choice of disc greatly affects the performance of the brake: therefore be careful when choosing the diameter and thickness of the disc. For light riders it is inadvisable to mount a disc with an increased diameter and thickness because you risk never being able to bring the pads to the correct temperature to maximize performance. Conversely, for a heavy rider, discs that are too small and too thin are inadvisable. The pads are also essential for proper braking. Light riders may be advised to use softer pads that warm up quickly, while heavier riders may be advised to use harder pads for optimal heat management.


Compatibility

FIRST uses the same brake pads and hydraulic hoses as IN.CA.S. The same fittings can then be used for assembly. All other spare parts are not compatible.


What has improved in FIRST

  • SIMPLE to fit – The caliper slots have been enlarged
  • SIMPLE to Bleed – Bleed poppet and cartridge with twice as many holes
  • EASE in centering the caliper – Greater ROLL-BACK of the pistons and dowels for centering
  • EASE of lever adjustment – ​​SEPARATE hydraulic and lever adjustment
  • EASE in regulating the volume of oil in the tank – No need to pay attention to the oil level anymore, the tank must be filled completely
  • No Vacuum, now air and oil are separated by the new diaphragm
  • The pump handles the change in oil volume better
  • Less risk of kinked hoses when engaging the master cylinders – The hose now exits more parallel to the handlebar


Characteristics

  • Lighter and stiffer master cylinder and caliper. The pair of implants will weigh 60 g less than IN.CA.S 2.0
  • New hydraulic adjustment system INDEPENDENT of lever position adjustment
  • Possibility to easily change the link and therefore the torque arm of the master cylinder, for a braking power up to (+26%) compared to IN.CA.S. 2.0.
  • New, slimmer pump cartridge with more oil holes and polished piston chamber for better piston sliding
  • Newly shaped pump tank with increased oil volume (+10%) and easy oil suction even in inverted position
  • New diaphragm system and pump cover for precise separation between oil and air. Avoid problems such as oil emulsions, sudden lever emptying, air problems after operating the lever with the bike upright, and ultimately better management of the oil volume change
  • Easier caliper bleeding system - with built-in bleed nipple in the highest position, making bleeding quicker and more effective
  • New caliper mounting holes, for better and faster caliper centering on the frame
