For years, time trial bikes have been designed with very similar features—flat, aerodynamic tubes, heavy, hard-to-handle frames, and often sloppy braking. For the flat, fast courses of the past, these features may have been fine. With today’s technically demanding courses, time trial bikes need to be different. Specialized pushed the limits of UCI regulations by adding disc brakes, shaving weight, and refining the fit. The new Shiv TT is the most customizable time trial bike on the market, without compromising aerodynamics, and it’s ready for a new decade of gold medals. The S-Works Shiv TT Module is the perfect starting point for building your dream TT bike.
- With time trials becoming more technical and demanding, it was essential to draw on Specialized’s years of R&D experience and professional feedback to create the fastest time trial bike on any course, whether it’s a city prologue or a long, climbing time trial. It’s not enough to simply make the fastest bike on a straightaway. With this in mind, Specialized has trimmed weight and improved handling on the Shiv TT, which now features an entirely new profile.
- Position adjustment is another cornerstone of the new Shiv TT design. Thanks to years of data collection from Retül pro positions, Specialized has redone the geometry and the front end of the bike: spacers, extension, armrests, position, stability. The handlebar with the stem is a single piece, simpler and lighter.
- Disc brakes are now a necessity in time trials, with changeable weather, tight corners, and less than perfect road surfaces. They allow you to brake just before the corner and add stability both when cornering and accelerating. And, don't worry, they add no drag.
